Climate Change: Remediation & Innovative Solutions: Images

Reduce your water footprint

Water accounting for all houses and businesses
Water conservation using all innovative measures described in the previous sections
Improve Green Water Management
The amount of rainfall that is intercepted by vegetation and stored in soils and then converted into biomass production

Consider the Virtual Water Concept
Water that is needed to convert a crop or material into a product (e.g. grapes into wine, feed into meat and cheese, apples into juice, etc)

Adaptive Land Use Management
Make provision for adaptive land use management in view of increased climatic variability and greater extremes.
Minimize infrastructure development in hazardous areas (Floodplain, erodible terrain, steep slopes, fragile environments, coastal zone)

Minimize Greenhouse gas emissions

Encourage tree planting
Plant trees for CO2 absorption, temperature moderations, rainfall interception and stormwater moderations.

Change mode of transport where possible
Cycle or use public transport (Cycling and rail are the most efficient mode of transport)

Local Food Production
Grow food in your garden using harvested roofwater and considered purchasing locally produced food as much as possible.
